Hi all

Hope your Christmas was a happy and safe one and not too many of you were caught away from home.
We took 10 hours to get home after Christmas but all family got back to their home town safely.  Heavy rain has seen flooding here in Biloela and our dam is 79% and rising which is wonderful considering we were 6% at the start of the year.  We are slowly catching up with other dams that got full earlier than this.
Have done some downloading of photos of cakes and craft that I've been doing.  Hope you all enjoy.  Check out all the pages.  See you soon.
May you all have a Happy and Safe New year with fabulous things to happen in your life whether it be your job, art, sport, love, family.  May God's Blessing be yours.

Art Weekend

Well had a fantastic weekend.  Did something I've wanted to try out for a while.  Pastels.  Started a little frustrated but with the excellent tutor's help and guidance I got into it.  We did animals so I chose to do a picture of our family dog that we lost at the start of the year.  She was 17 years old and we had had many a wonderful time with her.  So hopefully I've done her justice with the painting.  It is still a work in progress as we only did the workshop this weekend so I have a little more work to do. When I've finished her I'll post again.
This is me, my Tutor Marlene Millard and my unfinished puppy

Six of us enjoyed Marlene's teaching.

Been Away

Hi all, well sorry about the big gap in posting.  Was side tracked by doing a quilt for my expected grandchild.
I used the Kookaburra Cottage 'Noah & Friends' pattern.  down size it to a cot quilt size. Had great fun making it using all fabrics that I had coloured myself.  Some were dyed but most were coloured with 'Liquid Radiance' paints from Genesis Creations. Rainbow one I was very happy with. The only ones not coloured were the black & white. Also coloured the backing.

I will post the individual blocks on the Patchwork page as to give a closer look.
The expected grandchild arrived safely on the 6th September.  A Grandson. Jacob!

Hello again.  Thought I'd catch your eye with this one.  It was my sons engagement cake. Choc mud covered in choc ganache with white choc hearts around sides,  Just to add to the choc theme we had foiled choc heart chocolates as well.
As promised (though a day late) I have posted some more cake photos so that you can see the different ones that I've done.  Both in the wedding page and celebration page.  So enjoy browsing!

Tried a red velvet cake yesterday.  Hmmm something different and quite tasty.  It has been taste tested and given the thumbs up. Another flavour added.

Rockhampton Weddings Expo Sunday 27th June 2010

This is Darryl  Strelow and his daughter  Deborah watching over proceedings of the Bridal Fashion Parade

Hi Everyone, Well home from the big day what a day! A wonderful and successful day!  Talked to many upcoming brides about their desires and wishes for their cake.
Well done to Margaret, Deborah and Rachael for organising such a day.  We had over 50 exhibitors covering everything you need for your wedding.
The day started with a heavy fog (it's going to be a warm one) and it was a delightful day once the fog cleared.  Blue skies and sunny what every bride wishes for their day.  We had 220 brides register for the grand prize of the day worth $9000. This was won by Kimberly Muir.  Congratulations.
We had over 500 people through the gate.  Thank you to my daughter who stepped in at the last minute to help there and hopefully has a tan from it. (I volunteered her, so my fault she got sunburnt.  Oppsss)
The morning was busy and I handed out many a business card and leaflets which gave people some infomation on who I am and what I do.
I had some taste testing for the brides of the flavours I make.  These were very well received.  Favourite?  Coming out at first I'd say was the Cherry ripe Mud Cake followed by my Silver White Sponge and surprisingly my traditional Fruit Cake was very well received and tasted a couple times by the same people.  Very rewarding and pleasing that the fruit cake can still hold its own.

Taste testing ready on the beautiful antique side board for when the peoples come in.

This was my dislay table in the dining room of Goldston House before the opening of the gates.

I stopped for a second to take photos of the crowd in the room (just to prove that I'm telling the truth hehe)

Another shot of the room.  Marry Me Bridal was at the other end in the lounge room

Some of the beautiful bridal fashion of the afternoon in the beatiful gardens of Goldston House. (Well everything was beautiful!)

One of the cakes I had on display. 2 Tier Mud cake, covered in chocolate ganache with marbled choc slabs round sides.  Hand made Gum flowers and leaves to finish it off.

Well hoped you enjoyed a glimpse of what happened today.
Will post a few more cakes onto my Cake Pages tomorrow.  Always enjoy life.  God Bless

Well off to Rockhampton tonight.  Hopefully I have everything in the car.  Enough to show and impress the brides of what I can do and offer them to help make their big day a day to remember.  Shall post some pictures when I get back.  It should be a great day for the brides with 50 different sites for them to wander through and find, maybe, what they are looking for.

Aren't these gates fantastic! You too can have gates like this.  Yes well my hubby made these for my brother but that doesn't stop you from having something similiar.
If you are looking for a statment for your entrance, just contact Roger.

Had a great Queens Birthday weekend with my sister.  We got this bag sewn while she was here.
Hi everyone,  it is getting to a busy time but exciting.  I'm participating in the Rockhampton Wedding Expo being held in Rockhampton (of course) on the 27th June, 2010.  It is being held in the grounds of the beautiful Goldston House B & B, at 230 George Street.   They have about 50 exhibitors with anything and everything that is connected with weddings and marriage.  It will be a great day and is being held from 10am to 4 pm.  So if you read this why not come along and check it out.  Especially if you are a bride to be.  They have a fantastic Grand Prize worth over $9,000 for a lucky bride.
Hope to see you there.  Look for my stand Gail's Creations.  The one with the display of Wedding Cakes!!  Oh yes there will be some cake flavours for taste testing on the day.
